It is a great honor for me, as the Secretary-General of the Kadir Has University Model United
Nations Training Conference 2020, to introduce the sixth edition of our conference.
This year, the world is facing one of the biggest problems that world ever seen, which is the Corona Virus. As a HASMUN family, we would like to adapt our training conference to the pandemic process, therefore we decided to make an online training conference.
This year at HASTRAIN20, we have prepared 3 different committees for delegates, which are DISEC, Futuristic WHO and UNHRC where you can experience the MUN culture and feel the diplomatic atmosphere from the beginning until the end.
We brought together many social, economic, cultural and military problems at the same conference to see the unique solutions that the participants will bring. Each committee has a different perspective and different topics. They are designed to address your unique interests so one of our committees will suit you well.
With the magnificent HASTRAIN Academic and Organization Teams, we are looking forward
to making you experience an unforgettable Model United Nations conference.
Last but definitely not least, I would like to thank our Director-General Cansu Tosun and her Deputy Director-General Zabihullah Khawaja for their unbelievable effort and hard work I have to mention that, their struggle in the process and not giving up in any circumstances was highly inspiring. Lastly, I would like to thank my special colleague Deputy-Secretary General Ms Aleyna Bakar who never left me and stand by with me against every problem we faced during this process, without any interest.
Your supports will never be forgotten.
Now we would like to invite you to Kadir Has University online training conference between 12-13th December to be a part of this unique conference experience.
Melike Hazal Ulu

AGENDA ITEM: Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons
Disarmament and International Security Committee is one of six main committees at the General Assembly of the United Nations. The main focus is on disarmament and international security issues. Also known as DISEC or C1, all 193 countries that are members of the UN can attend. It is the only General Committee of the General Assembly with the authority to make verbal records. Disarmament Commission (UNDC) and the Conference on Disarmament (CD) are two bodies reporting to the First Committee. DISEC continues to work actively under the leadership of Sacha Llorenty which is defined, Chairperson.
Nuclear proliferation is the propagation of nuclear weapons, fissionable material, and nuclear technology applied to weapons, and the spread of information to nations not recognized as “Nuclear Weapon States” by the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. Four countries besides the five recognized Nuclear Weapons States have acquired, or are presumed to have acquired, nuclear weapons: India, Pakistan, North Korea, and Israel. None of these four is a party to the NPT, although North Korea acceded to the NPT in 1985, then withdrew in 2003 and conducted announced nuclear tests in 2006, 2009, 2013, 2016, and 2017. One critique of the NPT is that the treaty is discriminatory in the sense that only those countries that tested nuclear weapons before 1968 are recognized as nuclear-weapon states while all other states are treated as non-nuclear-weapon states who can only join the treaty if they forswear nuclear weapons
AGENDA ITEM: Changing World order after the covid-19 and the place of the world health organization in new order
World Health Organization (WHO) is a health institution established in 1948, affiliated with the United Nations. The main focus of the World Health Organization is combat infectious diseases such as influenza and HIV and non-infectious diseases such as cancer and heart disease.
The topic of the Futuristic WHO committee is the Corona Virus (Covid-19) which is declared an infectious and respiratory disease by the World Health Organization in 2019. The Delegates of Futuristic WHO are expected to handle the global challenges caused by 3 years of COVID-19 pandemic. Unexpected occurrences about the virus, countries’ policies, the vaccine challenge, which countries produced the vaccine, and who will benefit from it firstly, maintaining the global order in the post-corona period and more will be unraveled by the Futuristic World Health Organization Committee.
Do not forget, anything won’t be the same...
Agenda Item: Preventing human rights violations in protests and popular movements
The United Nations Human Rights Council is a United Nations committee formed in 2006 to institutionalize the United Nations Commission on Human Rights to protect and promote human rights worldwide. UNHRC focuses on human rights violations in countries that are members of the United Nations and has a structure that addresses the resolution of problems. Freedom of association and assembly, freedom of expression, freedom of belief and religion, women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights and the rights of racial and ethnic minorities are the main topics for which it is responsible.
The protest is the case of taking an opposite attitude towards the event and the situation and reacting to the situation. The aim is to make the voice heard before the public and to stand against the opposing idea. The opposed idea may be a decision taken, an action to be taken or an abandoned posture. However, protesting may not be violent or pose a threat to national security or public security interests. On the other hand, the reactions of the governments to the protests can be excessive and violent. Many countries have been facing problems recently due to the protests and the extreme reaction of the government to these protests.
Although there is a situation against many countries, do you have a common resolution to ensure the protection of human rights?
